David Plese was 21 when he first did a triathlon, inspired by watching the 2004 Athens Olympics. Within two years he was racing for Slovenia on the ITU circuit. With only four years of swim training, he also became the 1500m national swimming champion. He has certainly trodden a long and different path from being a national championship basketball player and law school graduate!
David has focused on long-distance triathlon, qualifying for the Ironman World Championships multiple times. He is also a major player at triathlons in his adopted home region in the Middle East. He continues to improve his craft, most recently finishing an Ironman in under 8 hours two consecutive times over three back-to-back races.
