Kate Waugh already has world and European junior and U23 palmares under her belt, but her star is still on the rise as she takes on racing the senior World Triathlon circuit and the Paris Olympic Games.
A constant on British Triathlon’s mixed relay start lists since 2014, Kate first earned world championship stripes in July 2022 as part of the winning British mixed relay team in Hamburg. But she was only just picking up steam, closing out her final year racing U23 by claiming the world title.
She has since followed up that success by securing her first Top 5 finish at a World Triathlon Championship Series race in May 2023, placing seventh in the individual race and figured in Great Britain’s mixed relay silver at the Paris Olympic test event, and coming second to compatriot Beth Potter at the WTCS finale in Pontevedra to notch a career-high ranking of 6th in the world.
After having first raced the Super League Triathlon race in Jersey as a junior in 2018, Kate paid her dues racing the Arena Games twice and the championship series in 2022 before finally standing atop the podium in 2023.
