Jan Frodeno was seeking a third successive Kona win, and was right on track, off the bike with the leaders. But a lower back issue brought him to a walk early on the run and out of contention. Easy option? Pull out . . . but not Jan. He honoured the race and fellow competitors and earned another level of respect from everyone.
