Georgia Taylor-Brown backs up her breakthrough T100 victory in Spain with a strong third-place finish in Vancouver.
Georgia Taylor-Brown ran her way onto the podium at T100 Vancouver, securing third place across the 2km swim, 80km bike and 18km run.
Fresh from a training camp in nearby Victoria, the multiple Olympic medallist and world champion from Great Britain lined up for the first women-only T100 professional race at Locarno Beach, facing a deep field that brought together some of the leading names from both the T100 and World Triathlon Championship Series.
Emerging from the swim in eighth, just over 40 seconds behind the leader, Taylor-Brown pushed the pace across the 80km bike leg to move up one position heading into the bike-to-run transition.
From there, the Brit found another gear. Producing one of the strongest runs of the day, Taylor-Brown steadily picked off competitors to move through the field and secure the final place on the podium behind Switzerland’s Julie Derron and fellow Brit Kate Waugh.
The result follows Taylor-Brown’s breakthrough T100 victory in Spain in May and provides further evidence of her growing strength over the 100km distance.
“I would like to win again because it’s a nice feeling to know that everything’s going well, but I’m really happy with this performance today. The run was the best part. There’s still quite a lot to work on,” she said post-race.
Next up, BV13 athletes return to World Triathlon Championship Series action at WTCS Weihai on 29 August.
