Daniela Ryf is back to defend her Ironman European Championship title in Frankfurt this weekend. She also seeks to extend her unbeaten streak in Ironman racing, which started in Frankfurt and carried on to Kona for the Ironman World Championship.
The Swiss speedster broke Chrissie Wellington’s course record here last year with a winning time of 8 hours, 51 minutes, and 24 seconds.
Ryf says, “I really loved the atmosphere last year and I enjoyed racing in Germany. The training was good and I’m looking forward to see how fast my legs will go this year.”
The reigning Ironman World Champion will face a high-caliber field with the likes of former Ironman 70.3 World Champion Melissa Hauschildt of Australia, fellow Swiss Emma Bilham, and Germany’s top female athletes including Diana Riesler.
