Not only did Taylor Knibb claim her third title at Ironman 70.3 Oceanside, but she also shattered the course record she first set during her breakthrough victory in 2022.

The American champion showed no signs of fatigue from travel, backing up her win at T100 Gold Coast the previous weekend with a dominant display across the 1.9-kilometre swim, 90-kilometre bike, and 21.1-kilometre run.

After exiting the swim just two seconds behind the leader, Knibb quickly took control on the bike, powering to a new course record of 2:15:27 and opening a five-minute advantage over the field. That buffer proved decisive as she followed up with the day’s second-fastest half marathon, stopping the clock in 4:01:39 to lower her previous course record by five minutes. The result also secured maximum points to put her on the Ironman Pro Series leaderboard – a clear statement of intent as she builds toward Ironman Texas and another Ironman World Championship campaign.

Meanwhile, Vasco Vilača kicked off his racing season with a win at the European Triathlon Cup on home soil in Quarteira. Racing over the Olympic distance, he stayed in the lead pack throughout the 1.5-kilometre swim and 40-kilometre bike before unleashing a decisive 10-kilometre run to secure victory by a clear 20 seconds.
