This weekend, Daniela Ryf and David Plese will race Ironman Switzerland in an attempt to secure their spots at the Ironman World Championship.

Ryf won here in 2014 en route to her first appearance at Kona. As the current World Champion, all she will need to do to validate her slot is finish an Ironman race. Knowing her, she will always want to put best foot forward. The Swiss Miss says, “race practice is good for me. I see it as a challenge to face a week after the Challenge Roth. If I can do it, that will make me stronger for Kona.”

Plese was second in Switzerland in 2014. He says, “I have nice memories on this course, I’ll try to make even greater ones this weekend.” According to triathlon statistician Thorsten Radde’s website trirating.com, the Slovenian is currently in the last July points qualifying spot for Kona and will need to do well in Zurich not to be bumped off. “I hope this will be the last Ironman before WC Kona, Hawaii. I feel good and ready for one more Ironman. I have a good feeling about Ironman Switzerland.”
